Nature-Based Grounding

This is a gentle, guided, nature-based mindfulness practice that you can follow out in nature, or even at home.

The video is by Natural Academy, who I completed my Applied Ecopsychology training with.

Books, Writings, Podcasts...

Below are some books, writings, podcasts etc I have found helpful and inspirational for living a soulful, embodied and connected life. I will continue to update as I find the time....

Anchored by Deb Dana - an accessible and practical book to support you to find ways to regulate your nervous system and find more safety in connection. It is also a great introduction to polyvagal theory.

Healing With Nature by Rochelle Calvert  - nature-based mindfulness and somatic practices to support with processing and healing trauma.

Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés  - a book I have revisted again and again, over several decades. Weaved with myth, story and fairy tales it offers soul medicine for how to live a vital, whole and instinctual life.

The Wild Edge of Sorrow by Francis Weller  -  such a tender and powerful book which offers depth and poetic nourishment for how we can tend to the personal and collective sorrows and grief of the world.

Soulcraft by Bill Plotkin - a profoundly rich book which explores how we can live our souls purpose and inhabit our unique place in the web of life. Another book I continually revisit again and again.

Descent and Rising by Carly Mountain - a guide to the Heroine's Journey which follows the ancient myth of Inanna. A wholly supportive and embodied book for women, especially when things feel like they are falling apart.

Moving Mountains: Writing Nature Through Illness and Disability, edited by Louise Kenward. This is a potent and moving anthology of nature essays written by disabled and chronically-ill authors. It was recommended to me by the more-than-human bookclub.

The Ecological as Psyche by Rhonda Brandrick - an article which explores how we are inherently ecological beings, and how connecting with nature is essential for our holistic wellbeing. This was written by one of the co-founders of Natural Academy, who I completed by Applied Ecopsychology training with.

Embodied Pathways - podcast by Adrian Harris

Adrian Harris is an ecotherapist who explores nature connection and embodied wisdom in his podcast.

Nature Recordings

I love these beautiful nature soundscapes from Radio Lento Podcast. They are really soothing and grounding, especially if you are finding it hard to get outdoors into nature.
